Katya Redpath is a writer, performer, and recording artist based in Austin, Texas.

Katya’s genre-defying sound blends the authenticity of 70s folk and roots-rock with lifetime of exposure to global rhythms and melodies, creating a musical journey that’s as unpredictable as it is unforgettable.

With a rich clear voice, Katya delivers vibrant songs which feel uplifting, thoughtful, and maybe a little subversive.

What People Are Saying

“Redpath’s ‘Time Changes Everything’ is an incredibly powerful debut album from a fully realized artist.

I’ve been producing and recording artists in NYC and Austin for over 30 years and every once in a while I meet a truly unique artist with the vision to manifest what their imagination has gifted them.

Katya is one of those rare people.

I’m privileged to have worked with her.”

“Katya’s songwriting is versatile and melodic, clear and fun - and always with an underlying message - kind of like turning on the radio in the mid-1970’s.”

— Mariah Krey

Principal, MGK Stellar Productions, Los Angeles, CA, USA

“Katya Redpath’s debut album is soul-stirring and beautifully recorded. Her optimism uplifts without denying complexity, and her lyrics are as poetic as they are resonant. Her voice, so pretty and clear, shines especially on "Put it in a Song."

This record gives warmth and light long after the last note..”

Bio

I was born in Washington, DC, lived in Argentina for my first three years, then grew up in Great Falls, Virginia.

Long ago I internalized the feeling that music creates a sort of time capsule that can transport us to other worlds and dimensions. I learned this by going deeply inside pieces of music from different eras and cultures, conjuring their origin-space as I performed them. I now believe music can do even more than that - it can usher in new realities.

As the late Fela Kuti said,

“Music is the weapon of the future.”

Although I’ve performed hundreds of songs over the years, I began writing and recording original music for the first time only recently, in Austin Texas.
